We all recognise that effective teams have a crucial role in driving business performance – yet most training involves skill development to help individuals and groups respond or prepare for the change.

Enabling the comprehension of the actual mechanics of team-dynamics is often either too abstract too be practical or is tackled obliquely.

We use the SDI  to help individuals understand the dynamics of their current relationships and utilise the Dynamic Triangle concept to explore the potential dynamics of work scenarios. This catalyses behaviour change as the experience is practical, real and rich in personal meaning. Given the amount of information captured in the Dynamic Triangle we decided we needed to bring these interactions to life.
To achieve this, we devised the team exercise INTERACT.  This helps people see more transparently the dynamics at play and immerses them in the practicality, power and pure simplicity of the SDI as a team development tool.
 Since we devised the exercise it has played an important part in all our programmes which have been designed to support those teams in transition. But don’t just take our word, instead hear from some of the other INTERACT owners have to say:

We've been using the INTERACT box since the How to… Conference (Nov 02) and it's been going down a storm.  More recently we used it on a Management Away-day for one of our key clients in the public sector.  There were 70 people there and we had done the SDI with them and used the INTERACT box with them in teams. We got the Greens doing Blue tasks, the Blues doing Red tasks and the Reds doing Green Tasks - the Hubs were asked to make a decision about which group they wanted to join!!!!  They really enjoyed trying to develop the strengths that they normally struggled with and it was a really 'buzzy' session.  When we debriefed - Each received feedback and coaching from the other colour’s as to how they would have approached their own colour tasks for the other groups. Everyone found it illuminating and hilarious - especially when the greens told the reds that it was perfectly simple if they just stood back and thought for a minute! 


We also have incorporated it into our leadership programmes with one of our Telecoms clients. The programme runs over 2 workshops one month apart and they get the chance to show how differently they approach the tasks once they've had the input from the first workshop.  We also use the tasks to develop

people's coaching skills e.g. the Reds coach the Blues on how to approach a Red task etc. - very powerful!

INTERACT has become a staple component  when working with project teams due to the ability it has to start conversations between all members of these teams – from sponsors and project managers to consultants and support services.
